Why do children need OWLS TALES?

How can this be achieved?

What are OWLS TALES?

Kāpēc vajadzīgas PŪCES PASAKAS?

Today we live in an incredibly fast-changing world.
To feel confident in it, a child needs more than school knowledge. A child needs a foundation built on universal human values: courage, creativity, responsibility, empathy, the ability to take responsibility for decisions, the ability to make friends and help others, and the strength to remain true to oneself.
The questions are global. The child is small.

How can this be achieved?

OWLS TALES – More Than Fairy Tales.
Our approach is to guide a child through engaging stories set in a modern fairy-tale universe with original characters — inhabitants of forests and cities, oceans and even outer space.
Through imagination and creative thinking, through fairy tales and the magical universe of OWLS TALES, a child experiences situations of choice, learns to understand others and gradually gains confidence.

What are OWLS TALES?

OWLS TALES truly are more than fairy tales.
They form a modern fairy-tale universe that gradually unfolds before the child.
With each new story, new characters enter the child’s life. The heroes face new challenges, sometimes magical ones, and obstacles that must be overcome.
And the heroes succeed. Traveling with them through enchanted forests and across the oceans, the child thinks, feels and makes personal decisions that will help in real life.

How does the fairy-tale universe develop?

OWLS TALES is a long-term project.
It is a steadily growing fairy-tale universe with a carefully planned development for years ahead. Each part focuses on important stages of personal growth.

Where does the fairy-tale universe begin?

The OWLS TALES universe begins with a story about courage and the freedom to be oneself — the story “Flying Little Mouse”.
In 2026 young readers will meet not only Flying Little Mouse.Billy the Eagle from “Billy the Eagle or The Spirit of Freedom” will spread his wings,
and children will also discover the story of the brave little Lizard and learn why Snakes have no legs.

2027. In 2027 Part 2 is planned:
“Masters by the Mountain”
“Tom the Gnome and the Magic Wand”
“Stripy from the Constellation of Shimmering Whirls”
“The Dragon and the Aliens”.

In 2028 the heroes of Part 3 will appear:
“The Little Brave Octopus”
“On a Thin Thread”
“Where Sky Meets Earth”
“Journey to the Ocean Depths”

What accompanies each story?

Each OWLS TALE is not just a book. It is a whole world built around a story.
The “Flying Little Mouse” set includes:
an illustrated book
a full-cast audio story with music
“Questions for Children, Parents and Teachers” — a guide for meaningful shared reading
a colouring set
a board game
a puzzle
clothing and items featuring the story characters.

Soon a short musical feature film “Flying Little Mouse” and character toys will also appear.
A child can not only read and reread the story, but also listen to it, play with it and return to beloved characters again and again.
In this way the story becomes part of a child’s life.
And with it come courage, freedom, decision-making and responsibility.

Who created OWLS TALES?

The author of the project is Elena Kordzeva, a writer, member of the Writers’ Union of Latvia and a long-time lecturer at the University of Latvia.
She is also a mother and grandmother of two wonderful grandchildren who inspired the project OWLS TALES – More Than Fairy Tales.

Why an Owl?

Since ancient times the Owl has been a symbol of wisdom: it sees in the dark, flies silently and notices what remains hidden from others.
That is why I chose the Owl as the storyteller of my fairy tales.
And also because in glasses I look a little like an Owl. But that is a secret.
